BBC Scotland has learned that Hull City are tracking Hamilton Accies midfielder James McArthur.
The Tigers have had the 22-year-old watched on several occasions this season and could make a bid during the January transfer window.
West Brom have also been linked with a move for McArthur, who made his Accies debut in January 2005.
McArthur, who has scored once this term, is contracted to the Scottish Premier League side until May 2011.

Van Zanten joins up at Hamilton
Van Zanten agreed a short-term stay at Morton in November
Hamilton Accies have signed former Hibernian and St Mirren full-back David van Zanten.
The 27-year-old, who was released by Hibs in September, has been playing with Morton for the past two months.

Hamilton Accies have released striker Leon Knight and defender Kevin Welsh.
The 25-year-old Welsh had been plucked from Harestanes Amateurs in the summer but only made one appearance.
He spent a spell on loan to Alloa Athletic in Division Two but has not played since picking up a groin injury in September.

COLCHESTER United striker Joël Thomas could face Celtic this weekend after rejoining former club Hamilton Academical on loan until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old Frenchman was signed from the Scottish Premier League club by Paul Lambert for £125,000 last summer.

Hamilton Accies have agreed a deal to bring former defender Brian Easton back on loan from Burnley until the end of the season.
And the 21-year-old could feature against Celtic in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off at New Douglas Park.
The left-back has made only one Burnley appearance since moving last summer for an initial £350,000 fee.
With Burnley signing Danny Fox from Celtic, Easton has been pushed further back in the Turf Moor pecking order.
